February 4, 2004

Meeting called to order at 8:35.

All Athletic Directors present.

  1. Winter Sports

A./B.   The All League meeting for basketball is scheduled for Feb 23, Armijo Library;  Girls at 6:00 P.M.   Boys at 7:00 P.M.

C.       

  1. Scott Kostecka reviewed the particulars for the upcoming MEL League Tournament Feb 14th.
    1. Seeding meeting 2/12 at 7 pm  Napa High room G35.
    2. Weigh-Ins will be at 8:00 A.M.  2/14.
    3. Tournament start time is 10:00 A.M.
    4. J.V. and Varsity matches will be interspersed.
    1. Fred Jones reviewed the Section paperwork.  Each school is to bring individual match record plus verifying weigh-in sheets to the League tournament.

     

  1. Spring Sports
    1. Swimming
      1. David Blackwell confirmed that MEL swimming and diving will be at UCD Schaul Center.
      2. Thursday 4/29 Diving 9:00 A.M.
        Friday 4/30 Swim trials 10:00  A.M.
        Sat 5/1 Swim Finals 9:00 A.M.
      3. Maryanne Christoffersen informed the League that Vintage and Napa are currently without a diving facility.  The League will be notified by the first league match 3/10 if Napa and Vintage will not field diving.
    2. Tennis -- David Blackwell informed the League that after March 1st, all Davis home meets will be held at UCD tennis courts.
    3. Softball
      1. Preseason meeting will be Feb 18 at Pietros after the 6:00 P.M. officials/coaches meeting.
      2. Rain-out in softball may affect Badminton if they travel on the same bus.
  1. Fall Sports
    1. David Blackwell gave all ADs a proposed water polo schedule for 2004.  The schedule is a 4-team, triple round; reverse of 2003 H/A, with a last to first adjustment.
    2. Fred Jones said the Football schedule for 2004 would be the same as 2003 with home/away reversed.
  2. Dale Lacky Award -- Joan Mumaugh reminded everyone that each schools' nominations (1 boy, 1 girl) must be sent to Wayne Mills by Feb 26th.
  3. Spring Sport Sites -- All school have responded with locations for Spring sports.  The school listings will be placed on the web site for reference.
  4. Other
    1. MEL is responsible to host and provide the director for the girls golf central sub-section tournament on October 25th.  Don Trolinger will be the meet director.
    2. Scott Kostecka said the Section stated that girl soccer players MAY play on outside teams during the season.
    3. Next meeting March 3rd 8:30 at SCOE.
